Welcome to Photos and Experiences

In the Beginning

I have always had a passion for photography. I guess I probably got it from my dad. He was always taking pictures of our family vacations, outings, or those other special occasions. So like father - like son, I have always tried to document my experiences through life with photography.

My first camera was a Minolta SRT 101. I had several lenes and must have shot literally 1000's of pictures with that camera. However, in the late 80's it got stolen at an airport. I try to forget such lousy things. So, I then replaced that camera with a Nikon F3 and a couple of Nikor lenses. That was a fantastic camera. After 1000's of more pictures, I guess my luck with that camera also ran out, it got stolen out of my house ( the only thing taken). So camera three (3) was a Nikon N8008s and more lenes. I still have that camera. My cumulative frame counter on it is at nearly 6000 images!!!

Dawn the Age of Digital

When we started our life on the road and wanted to document our adventures and experiences with photos on a web site, it became very apparent that traditional photography would be difficult to manage. So I bought a digital camera (Nikon Coolpix 950). I soon learned that this is the only way to go. I am still amazed with the quality of the images, and how easy it interfaces with the computer. Nearly all the images in this web site are taken with a digital camera. Unforgetately, I had to sacrafice some quality of these images in order to allow them to load quicker. However, some of the images are good old fashion 35mm, because I dropped the digital camera, and had to have it repaired. At least it didn't get gotten stolen.

Photos and Experiences

Our photos and experiences with alfa and zed have been organized chronologicly by year. I have also tried to make a suitable interface to allow easy, entertaining, and informative navigation. I hope you like it.

In 1999, we started with a trip across country. There, you will be able to read about the many places we visited, along with a lot of captioned photographs. During 2000 we pretty much stayed on the west coast, with small trips here and there. Thus, the content for 2000 in much less than 1999.

During 2001we have stayed put in Palm Springs, Ca, with time spent on our business and this web site. We have really gotten to like this area of the country, in fact, it will now be our home base. We have established a permanent mailing address in Palm Springs, as well as, a great RV Resort for Alfa and Zed. This area has long been a popular RV'ers winter spot . With its dry and warm winter temperatures, spectacular beauty, many golf courses, and friendly residents, we couldn't have picked a better place to call "home". I don't have a lot for you this year, so far. However, there are some things that I think you will enjoy.

In 2002 we embarked on another wonderful cross-country trip. This time we decided to venture into the South. Our route took us through Texas, then along the Gulf Coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. We stayed for about 6 weeks in Florida, during the warm and humid months of July and August. Our stay in Florida was great. The heat of the summer was not as bad as some said it would be. We stayed mostly on the Atlantic coast of central Florida, in the Stuart, FL area. In September, we headed up the east coast of the US through Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia. Our return back west took us through the Deep South, along Hwy 20. This route was great. Hwy 20 is well-maintained and is a less traveled route, east and west across the country. In the future, we might choose this route over Hwy 10 or 40.

It is now 2004 and we are still on the road - 6 years and counting. We really like this life style and have no plans of stopping soon. This year we plan to stay on the west coast , seeing family and friends, and continuing to run our business from Alfa.
